The petite brunette was playing songs from her album When the Sun Goes Down with her her band The Scene.



And there was something ever so post-watershed about the 19-year-old's modern-spin on the belly dancer's outfit

She is of course, 19, and a crop-top is nothing new on a teenage pop sensation, remember Britney at 16?



But Selena's homely sweet image still renders the new look a bit shocking.



The star, who is dating the equally wholesome Justin Bieber, 17 , looked lovely in the silver hooded crop-top, sparkling purple harem pants and sneakers.

But it was nonetheless an odd outfit, half teenager in the street and fifty percent dancer in a club.



She continued her departure from suburban to sultry tonight in Clarkston, Michigan, where she donned a gold basque with a barely there pelmet skirt, complete with a dramatic train.

Both outfits are edgier choices from Gomez, who has set out her stall as a rockier, raunchier version of her former self.



The theme continued with skimpy dresses, most laden with glitter, that again marked a radical departure from the conservative outfits that she's donned on other tours.

The Disney star obviously feels as though it's time to grow up, and told Glamour magazine recently that she feels pressure to conform

The 19-year-old Disney beauty talked candidly to Glamour magazine about how she deals with being a young celebrity while modelling the fall's hottest beauty trends.

When asked by the magazine if it is hard being young and a Hollywood star, the actress responded: 'Yeah, you have this pressure [to fit in] and you want people to like you. I try my best to be a good person and be the best I can be.'



She takes inspiration from her peers, and become close with her recent Monte Carlo co-stars Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy.



'I was nervous and intimidated because they are older and had worked on movies before, but they were the best girls I could have been paired up with! They were so sweet and took me under their wing.'

Selena's platinum selling song Who Says, off her new album, contains the lyrics 'Who says you're not star potential?' and the actress admits that she can relate to that having been told that on several occasions.



'I’m 19, so I feel like everything that I’m doing right now should not be taken too seriously. I should be able to have fun and enjoy where I’m at! So I don’t want to spend my time hiding or worrying about all of that.'



Yet the star has been threatened, on several occasions by hardcore Bieber fans.



'Yeah, I’m human, so of course certain things sometimes hurt. I just laugh at it,' she says.

Selena Gomez took a break from her tour schedule for an afternoon of poolside fun in Miami.

The Disney star, who turned 19 earlier this month, slipped into pretty pink bikini to cool off from the Florida heat on Friday.

At one point, she untied her bikini top to avoid getting tan lines as she reclined on a sun lounger after taking a dip in the pool at a luxury Orlando hotel.

The performer, who kicked off her summer tour on July 24 in Costa Mesa, is travelling throughout the US on her Dream Out Loud tour for the rest of this month.

Her boyfriend Justin Bieber joined her for part of the tour last week and was spotted taking in some sunshine the following day in Miami.

Hinting he has been in a rather romantic mood of late, he wrote on Twitter that same day: 'What makes you so beautiful is that you don't know how beautiful you are... to me.'

He is taking a month off to relax with his pals - and of course Selena - before beginning work on his next album.

Gomez is set to perform in Atlanta tomorrow night.

So it's not surprising that Selena Gomez needed to take some time out for some much needed relaxation today.

The 19-year-old singer and actress was spotted letting her hair down at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida with a group of friends.

The star had her hands in the air and laughed with delight as she took a ride through the islands of adventure in the popular resort.

Her outfit was a far cry from the more glitzy outfits she sported on the first night of her tour.

The 19-year-old singer donned a Vegas showgirl-style sequinned dress for the We Own the Night show, complete with sequinned corseted top and tasselled train.

But Selena's fans certainly looked happy enough as the singer strutted her stuff on the stage at the Mizner Park Ampitheater and belted out some of her most famous songs.

Justin watched from backstage with his friend, singer Sean Kingston, before darting out the back door before he could be spotted by the exuberant audience.

The 19-year-old singer donned a Vegas showgirl-style sequinned dress for the We Own the Night show, but didn't quite manage to pull it off, and appeared old before her time in the outfit.

The plunging gown featured a sequinned corseted top and tasseled train, and is really aimed at women a few years older than Selena.

Following the show, proud Justin later tweeted to his fans: 'Had a #greatnight and surprised the people. felt good to be on stage. nothing is changing that. #REAL. @selenagomez u did great tonight. proud of u.'
