Is plastic the new normal?

Is plastic the new normal?

Actress Julianne Moore fears plastic surgery and facial touch-ups have become so common in Hollywood, it's normal to look unnatural.

The 50-year-old star of The Kids Are All Right is famous for her radiant skin and youthful looks, and she insists she won't be going under the knife or shooting up Botox anytime soon.

But she's told Health magazine she's alarmed that so many celebrities do.

"Even with the laser stuff, the skin becomes so shiny. It's like nothing sticks to it... and it doesn't have a normal patina.
"It's hard to age. Let people do what they want to do, but I do think that a new normal sometimes starts to exist where the cosmetic surgery itself starts to look normal, and we lose track of what a real face is like."

Having ruled out cosmetic intervention, to what does the actress attribute her talent for ageing gracefully yet beautifully?
"Ashtanga yoga three times a week, and I run a couple of times a week too," Moore says.

But her real anti-ageing secret probably has less to do with working out than sheer good luck. As the actress happily admits, some things are "just genetics".

Moore stars with Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling in the upcoming comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.
